Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reading and understanding blueprints prior to starting a project
- Sourcing the materials to be used in the project
- Measuring and cutting materials to specifications
- Welding materials using the correct materials to join the metals together
- Checking finished work to make sure that it falls within the tolerances marked on the blueprints
- Able to pass various welding certification tests
- Works with conventional and precision measuring instruments
- Performs process inspection, certification, and documentation
- Maintains welding equipment through maintenance activities
Grinding and Finishing:
- Skilled at grinding
- Finishes product through us of various manual and power grinding tools
- Performs routine maintenance on grinding equipment
Preferred and Required Qualification:
Education:
Preferred - High School / GED
Required – Completion of Vocational school / Machine Trade school welding
course
Job Skills and Abilities:
- Possess the practical / technical knowledge required to perform the job
- Basic math ability and understanding of mechanical principles used in sheet
- metal fabrication
- Mechanical ability
- Ability to use measuring instruments to produce parts within decimal

- Must be able to do conversion to and from metric

Physical Demands:

- Must be able to frequently stand up to two or three hours continuously

- Must be able to reach and grasp parts repeatedly throughout the day
- Lift 45lbs. minimum and up to 60lbs. by self and up to 120lbs. in a “buddy” lift
Specific Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
Environment Conditions:
- Aerospace fabrication shop conditions
- Welding environment requiring specific Person Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Exposure to dirt, dust, and noise and extremes of heat or cold
- Employees work in semi proximity with others
